Romaine. Bench. November 10th , 2017.
Although almost all benches are rectangular in shape, there are still many kinds of home workbenches. A work bench may just have a simple and flat surface. Sometimes, though, the surface of the work bench may have a very intricate design. The size of a bench also varies. There are petite home work benches and large benches. Indeed, a home work benchs size and design is primarily dependent on the type of work that will be done on it.
Perhaps you have come across numerous home improvement programs in DIY Network and noticed that almost all benches shown are made of wood. Indeed, wood is perhaps the common material that is used to build home work benches. Most wood home work benches are made from oak or maple wood. Sometimes, one or more types of wood are used to make a home work bench. For instance, the surface may be made of oak and the base is pinewood or other hardwood.
For upholstered bench tops, look at how the cushion is attached to the bench. A cushion that is loose or looks like it is about to come loose will not do. The best choice is a cushion that is attached to the top of the bench and cannot be removed. Cushions that are attached with ties are usually not a good choice for a vanity bench. Also remember to look for cushions made of a material that is easy to wipe off and clean.
However, oil is not recommended for outdoor benches. Oil should be reapplied every three months on indoor benches, so it probably will not last that long on outdoor teak benches. Also mildew tends to grow on outdoor benches that are oiled, so steer clear of oil if your bench is an outdoor bench. As with all quality wood furniture, it is necessary to clean your teak bench periodically. The best way to clean a teak bench is with a mixture of detergent, water, and bleach.
Most indoor benches are wood, or they have at least some wood in them. The first thing to think about when selecting a bench is the type and color of the wood you already have in your home. If the bench will go in a room where you have other furniture, try to match the wood of the bench with the other pieces. If it will go in an entryway or hallway, then think about what other things are around them.
