You can match an indoor bench to kitchen cabinets or bathroom cabinets, wood trim, or just about anything else in your home. You just dont want the bench to look out of place. Another important consideration when thinking about type of wood is durability. Solid wood benches will last a lot longer and take a lot more abuse than benches that are made of MDF, or medium density fiberboard. If you arent sure whether the bench is sold wood or MDF, then just try to pick it up and see how heavy it is.
Go out and take a walk in the park right now. Do you like the benches there? Sure, they are well planned, very robust and maybe even in a good shape. Are they comfortable enough? Are they in sunny or shady places? Large enough? Do you see where I am going to? There are many things that make a bench good or bad. Its not just to go out and buy the first bench you see. It takes planning and evaluation.
The most common woods for these benches are cedar, teak, pine, and cypress. Most of these garden and outdoor benches are very easily maintained, especially when made from cedar and teak. Cypress is similar to teak and cedar which also makes it very popular. All three of these woods are known for their durability and natural oils that help to keep the wood looking younger for longer. These oils also repel insects and protect from warping, rotting, or decay.
