So, lets see what makes a good outdoor garden bench: First and foremost, you need to like how the bench looks. This is entirely personal and there is little to say here. But I recommend you check some image galleries online and see what kind of benches are available out there just so you get an idea. Then, the design of the bench must fit to some extend the design of your garden especially if you have other garden furniture.
Many people enjoy teak for its durability and color. Some people prefer to keep their benches the same color they were when they brought the benches home from the store, while others enjoy a weathered teak, which is much more rustic-looking. Whatever kind of teak you prefer, it is simply impossible to go wrong with a beautiful teak bench. Teak benches will last a very long time, whether they are for indoor or outdoor decors.
Of course many people really enjoy the look of weathered teak, so many of these steps will not be necessary if you prefer to enjoy the grey teak. It takes several months for teak to fade from its original light brown color into grey, although this may happen a bit sooner if the bench is an outdoor bench. Just remember that teak will always be durable and resist splitting, even after it begins to have that beautiful grey weathered look.
A good bench is a well placed bench. Even the best bench will be useless or bad if placed in the wrong location. The best location for outdoor benches are near patio areas, walks, outside of the garden fence, next to a tree or near the buildings wall. The place shouldnt be too sunny neither entirely shady. While most benches arent usually moved, its good to think whether you really want the bench staying where it is forever.
You can match an indoor bench to kitchen cabinets or bathroom cabinets, wood trim, or just about anything else in your home. You just dont want the bench to look out of place. Another important consideration when thinking about type of wood is durability. Solid wood benches will last a lot longer and take a lot more abuse than benches that are made of MDF, or medium density fiberboard. If you arent sure whether the bench is sold wood or MDF, then just try to pick it up and see how heavy it is.
